Busy weekend with wonderful friends!

Saturday morning, Gabby started swimming lessons. Twelve two and three year olds in one class – can you even imagine?! It’s a parent/child class so the parents are there, in the water, to help keep focus. Gabby had a great time! Highlight was going down the slide at the end of class. I’m sure there will be more stories of the next few weeks.
Saturday evening, we had the Royce & Lissa and their girls Adia & Rasa (our old neighbors) over for an Easter Egg Hunt, dinner and bonfire. The girls had a great time hunting for eggs (although Gabs found the first one and just wanted what was in it, didn’t care about finding others!). Eek! I forgot to take pictures; we were so engrossed in the fun!

Sunday morning the kids and I went to Tim, Kathy, & Whitney’s house for breakfast with a few girl friends from college. Then we trekked to a nearby park. It was chilly, but beautiful. And great to catch up with everyone!

Sunday evening, we met Adam, Michelle, and Kaya for dinner at Old Chicago. Kaya and Gabby are so silly together! Our two little families always have a great time together!

It was a weekend packed full of fun and we are so grateful to have such wonderful friends!

Great Friends!

Last Sunday we visited our old neighbors at their new home! These girls have a grand time together and Patrick and I have become wonderful friends with Lissa and Royce. And all the girls take their turns taking care of Isaac, bringing him toys, etc, so he’s included too.

It’s this time of year we miss them most, as the girls would run around and play together nearly every day, before and/or after dinner. It was easy and fun, no planning needed; everyone would just migrate outside when the weather was nice. While we miss them dearly, we are excited for them and we will plan our get-togethers and they will be even more exciting!

Conversations with a Two Year Old

On Saturday morning, Gabby came wandering into our bedroom at about 5am (too early!). I told her it was still night time and she could snuggle in our bed. About 7am, we hear Isaac chattering via the monitor. She says, "Hey! Isaac can talk!". I asked her what he was saying. She says, "Him saying he wondering where Gabby is."

Sunday was cooler than it has been, albeit still above average. Gabby was bothering Patrick to go outside, at about 8am, as she's running around the house in a pajama top, undies and bare feet. Patrick told her we weren't going outside because it was too cold, to which Gabby responds, (insert 2 year old attitude here) "well, I'll put pants on!"

Prince(ss) Isaac

The joys of having an older sister :)

Dracu-baby

I had to get a photo of Isaac showing off his "fangs" before those front teeth make their appearance (which is going to be very soon!)

Gabby 2 1/2 and Isaac 7 months

Best Friends

A few weeks ago, we had the Burback family over for dinner. Kaya and Gabby always have such a great time together! Michelle was able to snap a great photo of these two silly girls.

The Burbacks will be welcoming baby 2 (a boy!!) in April. We are excited for them to have the joys of a little boy at home and know that our little guys are going to have just as much fun together as our little ladies do!

What have you been up to?

Ok, I realize that I haven’t posted in a while. We had a bout of cold/flu/coughs that just wouldn’t go away. For weeks! Isaac had an upper respiratory infection, which turned into an ear infection and required a second round of antibiotics, then Gabby (along with a cough that just wouldn’t quit) ended up getting pink eye. So, rather than blogging, we were visiting the clinic (over and over!) and working on getting everyone healthy! I’m happy to say that we are all doing well again!!

So what did you miss out on in the past four weeks? Well, Isaac is in full crawling/climbing mode and loving every minute of it. His face tells it all – a mischievous little grin. He can pull himself up and pushes onto his feet to stand if he’s got something to hold on to. Number one thing in his world right now is Gabby’s step stool. It’s a great climbing tool and uses it to practice his “downdog” (yoga). I can tell you that he IS able to sit up by himself, but you’ll never witness it. This kid doesn’t sit still long enough for his butt to hit the floor! He is always on the GO, GO, GO! Still such a happy little guy. We’ve been dealing with a rocky sleep schedule with him though – up one to two times a night with one nighttime feeding. In discussing this with the pediatrician, we are hoping to wean this schedule by the time he is 9 months. Cross your fingers!

Gabby is suddenly so much more advanced in her thinking. She is VERY observant and asking a lot of how, what and why questions. And she is extremely nurturing. She loves to help take care of Isaac in any way she can. We call her Little Momma. Currently, her number one activity is jumping. Jumping on the bed, jumping off the stairs, jumping on the couch…etc, etc, etc. Jumping, jumping, jumping! Between trying to keep track of climbing Isaac and jumping Gabby, I’m starting to think that corralling them both in the crib was a good idea (see previous post)! :)

Whitney did it...

On Saturday, the kids went down for nap at the same time. They were laughing and being silly so after about 10 minutes, Patrick went in to see what was going on. Gabby had climbed into the crib and was “snuggling” with Isaac. So, he broke it up and each took their naps.

At dinner, we were talking about why she shouldn’t crawl into the crib. Among chancing falling on top of and hurting her brother, Patrick told her that cribs are for babies, not big girls. To which Gabby responds, “Whitney went in there.” (we babysat our two year old friend, Whitney, last weekend and she napped in the crib.)

Can’t get anything by this one!

Conversations with a two year old

I do yoga on Thursdays during my lunch break. On Thursday morning I was about to leave and realized I forgot my gear and said out loud, "I almost forgot my yoga pants!", and I ran upstairs to get them. When I came back down, Gabby says to me, "you gonna wear a shirt at yoga, mommy?"

Haha! Yes, dear, I will be fully clothed at yoga. :)
